FORCE START WELL, BUT LOSE TO CIVICS

October 1, 2017

The Force welcomed North Division leaders New Tecumseth Civics to the Plex this past Sunday, and came out on the short end of an 8-1 result.

The Force started well, playing the Civics step for step, and after allowing an early goal, co-Captain Beau Janssen snapped one over the Civics goaltender, scoring unassisted at the 6:07 mark.

The Civics took the lead at 14:36 of the first when Civics’ Riley Nadeau scored his 2nd of 3 in the period.

The game was still tight until a miscue behind the net, and a late power play goal in the last minute sent the Force into the intermission down 4-1.

After another good stretch of play in the 2nd, the Civics scored 4 times in the last half of the period, including a PP goal and Shorthanded marker to make it 8-1.

There was no scoring the third.

The Civics held a big edge in play at times, and their top skaters generated several good chances. Their cohesion was noticeable throughout the game, while again, the Force are still developing that same level of team play.

The week coming up will be a big test as the Force play the first of 5 weeknight games, welcoming the Bradford Rattlers to the Plex Thursday night (game time 8pm), travel to Gravenhurst to play the South Muskoka Shield on Friday night, and return home to Sunday afternoon at 3pm to play the Ville Marie Pirates.
